Ever wondered how is that we have lived for the years we have ? Were we content ? Were we happy every single day? Wait did we live every day at all? I got thinking while walking this evening . What makes us happy? What makes us content actually? I would say nothing because for us humans happiness is a moving target . I will be happy when I achieve that , or when I buy that or when I reach there. One day we manage to reach our goal and completely forget this is what we have been toiling for and instead of giving gratitude or being content what do we do? Not even acknowledge what just happened but look ahead for another target , another thing to buy or own.

Prawns Fry
I simply love feasting on prawns . I happened to lay my hands some fresh prawns at the thippasandra market on a sunday morning and I wanted to eat a simple dish so here is what I did . Washed the prawns with salt water and deveined them . Please note it is very important to remove these black , slimy things from their lining to avoid infection and damage to our digestive system . Here goes the simplest recipe .

Ingredients :
Prawns
chilly powder
Turmeric powder
Oil to fry
Salt
Lemon
Method :
Marinate the prawns with all the above and keep it in the fridge for an hour .

Heat oil in a wok/tawa and add the prawns . I prefer less oil in my food so you are welcome to use as much as you want to
fry till the prawns curl up
squeeze lemon and devouver
Happy Eating!
New Modern Hotel
It was another sunday morning and another place . We stopped at the new modern hotel and I had heard rave reviews about the sambhar here . It was bustling with people and we didn’t find a table but the best part of these places is that we can share the table with others . When the agenda is gorging and walking out who cares really ;). So we shared our table with 2 others. We ordered for idli/Vada and there were loads of sambhar on the table in these utensils . Also extra sambhar was served very proactively .We also tried the kesari baath .
Idli /Vada was good, Sambhar was ok too. Nothing I fell for unfortunately . Some places have their legacy from years and may be people just love it. No reasons required .

The keshri baath was very sweet for my palette but good . Look at it, doesn’t it say it all ?

And of course this board there 😉 .I plan to visit for lunch sometime soon
Its an AYE from me , Go try!

Kalmane Koffees
I like sipping on black coffee once in a while and love the smell of coffee . While I was at VR mall,Bangalore last weekend , I noticed the brand new Kalmane outlet located in the minus 1 floor and didn’t think twice to visit them. Coffee has its way of attracting people , it has its way of calming nerves and of course it makes me happy , a satisfied feeling which only a coffee lover will understand 🙂 .
I didn’t want to waste my time sifting through the menu as my order was simple, however my friend wanted a madras coffee and that was the powder they sold so the guy at the counter suggested we try their premium coffee . I happily nodded and we sat at our tables . The coffee was ready in less than 5 minutes and was accompanied by badam biscotti . Rest is history . I loved it , it was a refreshing break for me . MY tag line for coffee would be “A lot can happen after coffee ” 🙂
Its an AYE from me . Go if you are around

Cheela
A healthy breakfast option anytime makes me happy . One of the regular brekkie option i retort to is cheela. Its simple, its healthy and its delicious , isn’t that a match made in heaven ?
The above pics are from my insta story , I forgot to click pics because of insta stories
Ingredients :
Besan/ Chickpea flour/Gram Flour- 1 cup
Onion , finely chopped -1
Green chilly , finely chopped – 1
turmeric power – half tea spoon
salt – to taste
Garam Masala – about a pinch
Water – 1 to 1.5 cups
Method :
Mix all the above said ingredients with a cup of water and make sure its of a right consistency ,not very watery and not too thick . Keep it aside for 5 mins .
Heat a non stick pan and pour the batter like we do for dosa and wait for it to cook. Put a lid over it so the same cooks in steam and I prefer slow cooking at any time . The taste one can get from slow cooking can never be obtained by cooking on high flame . These cheelas are delicious and can be eaten with chutney too. I prefer it plain like this and is one of my favourite of all time .
NoteÂ
We can add curry leaves or coriander leaves and it will only taste nicer .
Happy Cooking!
The Super Market -Life lessons
There is this road I take everyday to work and back . It was overtly crowded and traffic almost on a stand still as the super market on the road was a crowd puller with less parking so every visitor parked on the footpath and clogged the roads . This went on for years and I never noticed anything but the traffic , chaos and so many times have found ways to avoid driving on that stretch especially a sunday as I know a 2 minute drive will take 20 minutes and life went on …
Recently they shut the store rather shifted it elsewhere and when I realised that it was a huge sigh of relief for me. No more traffic woes I screamed and punched my hands in the air . Again life went on until one night when I was driving back home. I saw the dark building from the signal and noticed that the super market and people around it were beyond mere nuisance . It provided light and also had people and security around which was missing.
The path gave a deserted look and left me thinking that we always find negatives when something is around us and start noticing the positives when it is gone . Why is that we aren’t trained to see the good first before we crib about the bad? isnt that the ideal way of looking at life? We whine and cry about what we dont want and seldom appreciate what we have . We run behind what we dont need and ignore what we have , we chase dreams for tomorrow and fail to live today . We are humans and the most intelligent “life” on this planet .. Hmm time to rethink?
Madurai Idli Shop
Once upon a time when Tamil style idli and sambhar was on mind I used to visit this place and somewhere had forgotten. Last Sunday when Idli’s were on my mind for brekkie the closest destination was Madurai Idli shop. So decided to park the car and walk in hoping all was the same .

The idlis were ok and I am unsure what the gravy is called for it surely wasn’t sambhar . I thought tomato gravy and didn’t event eat it  after tasting once ,however the guys at the service counter told me it was sambhar . Service was bad, “I dint care attitude “. I decided to eat and leave as I wasn’t planning to visit them again anyways . The idlis were cold and just ok . No spoons and the wait was unbearable .. May be expansion is not everyones cup of tea and inflation make people compromise on the quality and quantity. This is the era where chutney is more of water than flavour , whom can we blame really ? This place is a big nay! from me .. If you want to give it a try below are the details , you never know it might be your day 🙂

The wait ..
Wait for that someone ,
Wait for a companion,
Wait to be a part of the nature ,
Wait .. Continues …. ‪#‎randomthoughts‬

She was busy fishing in her coracle ..
She was engrossed in her work .. Nothing around her seems to deter her , she was in her own world .. Concentrating , Giving her 100% and collecting the fishes as they bite the bait .. The look on her face told me that nothing will deter her from doing what she wants to do .. She had decided to make the most of her day! My mind said : A new day .. A new opportunity to do all that I couldn’t do yesterday .. I want to be like her , giving my 100% .. Busy reaping the benefits of all that I sow .. Who has time to waste on the unwanted, how does it matter what people around say .. It’s my life and I live it to the fullest .. Well! She was still busy fishing in her coracle
